World's Best to Clash in Arizona!

The 2009 Copper State International Chess Tournament

May 29th - June 3rd, 2009
Abstrax, Inc.
2222 S Dobson Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202

• A chess event unlike any Arizona has ever seen.
• Some of the strongest players in the world competing alongside
many of the nation's most talented juniors.
• A chess tournament guaranteed to be full of many hard fought battles.
The event will also include a day (May 30th) of fun and festivities:
• A 20-player Simultaneous Exhibition by Grand Master Timur Gareev
of Uzbekistan.
• Chess Lecture by Grand Master Alejandro Ramirez of Costa Rica.

The American Chess Events' mission is to create the most cooperative and productive
environment possible for America's youth chess players to succeed both in chess and in life,
with the eventual goal of producing an American World Chess Champion. We intend
for the 2009 Copper State International to help the U.S. chess scene take the next big step:
Create a consistent series of tournaments where our best players can challenge tough,
international competition without having to travel overseas. In an effort to breakdown the
barriers that exist between the “Chess Professional” and the “Amateur Chess Enthusiast”,
a higher quality of chess both “over the board” and “in the playing halls” will be expected from
all tournament participants.

UPDATE: 6 GMs, and over 10 IMs will be comepeting in the event! Click the link below for more details:
